Are you collecting for investment purposes? Just because something is old does not mean it will hold its value over time. In the recent recession lots of collectibles lost 50 percent or more of their value.

Collect because you like the pieces you are collecting. Antiques generally are 50 years or older so you may collect something 20 years old simply because you like it.

Own it because you want to own it and not because it is old.

I am a big fan of Lladro figurines however I think they are having trouble holding their collectible value. If you collect for investment they many not provide you a return. Suggest you collect because they are absolutely beautiful pieces.

SCS is actually a very good Swarovski club. I recommend signing up inside a Swarovski store if one is anywhere near you. They can show you the pieces available to members only along with the yearly gift you get for signing up. The membership gift is nearly worth the cost of memebership. I also like their quarterly magazine.
